When I was a teenager, I wrote various columns of varying quality for my local newspaper, The Poughkeepsie Journal. You may see those pop up on the internet here and there (much to my chagrin). Also as a teenager, I painted ducks. I mean, I also painted other things, but I would paint a duck every year for the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service’s Junior Duck Stamp competition, which supports conservation efforts across the country. When I was seventeen, I was New York’s Grand Prize winner and state representative in the national round. You can see that Northern Shoveler here (it’s unlikely I’ll be painting a better duck anytime in the next 200 years).
My high school best friend Michelle and I are in the midst of a zine project, tentatively titled in/form. Stay tuned.
